Peggy is a local woman who lives alone in the Ypsilanti area. She lives by herself and struggled to qualify for social services from different agencies. She had no furniture in her home, she would have to lie on her bed all day, which served as the furniture. This was all after she moved and was unable to bring any of her living room furniture with her during the move. This is another story of word of mouth referrals for Friends In Deed as Peggy was able to hear about these services through a friend of hers who has also been helped by the organization. She had heard of the organization before but had not really known what we do until she got the referral from her friend. She was completely satisfied with the help and would use the organization again or refer someone else if needed.

Cody, his wife, and five children live in the Ypsilanti area. Up until last week, his family did not have any furniture in the home. Cody heard about Friends In Deed through their social worker that they had met with. Cody was having trouble financially and overall was just having a rough time providing for his family. Cody and the other six members of his family were sleeping on the floor at night and had no place to eat dinner or sit down as a family and watch television. Things that most of us take for granted, Cody and his family did not have. When he and his family moved to Ypsilanti, they were unable to take their old furniture with them. They have not had any furniture since their move. In addition, Cody and his family had gotten used to sleeping on the floor and being without these important items. He was more excited for his children being able to have this furniture again than anything else. Cody is a prime example of all the good Friends In Deed can do.

Marc is a local man that lives with his wife in the Ann Arbor area. He had not previously used Friends In Deed before to donate furniture and help others. His wife had heard of the organization and thought that it would be a great idea to donate a mattress to us. It was essentially a brand-new mattress that had hardly been used by the family. Another friend of the family had also used Friends In Deed before. Marc figured he would give the organization a try. Marc talked about the great sense of accomplishment that he felt that he would be able to help someone in need. He did not just want to throw the mattress away, but he also did not want to keep it laying around in his house. Marc would definitely use the organization again for all of his furniture donation needs.

Suzanne, her husband, and four children live in the Ypsilanti area. They were in the process of moving and they had some furniture items that they did not want to bring with them. They also chose this as the time to donate items that they did not need to keep anymore before their big move. Suzanne heard about Friends In Deed through a different local non-profit organization. The two dressers that she donated to Friend In Deed were used by two of her children for eight years. Suzanne felt so great that she was able to donate the furniture because otherwise they would have just left it behind. They were only taking the things that were absolutely necessary with them. She was happy to be able to give back to the local community. The dressers that she donated served her well and she was excited that they were going to a new home to help serve others via Friends In Deed.

Today Pilar came in to pick up a bunk and a dresser. Before she was using a plastic bag for her kids clothes. She also got a mattress for herself, she lives in a townhouse. She will be able to utilize what she was given and very lovely to talk to. Her children were very happy to receive the dresser and she was happy to find Friends In Deed, it was an answer to her prayers.

Jacob and I delivered a sofa to Ken's apartment that he owns right now. He found us through SOS (Someone Over Shoulder or Someone Special). Friends In Deed helped renew the license for his bus pass. Right now all of his kids have grown up and he has kids and grandkids. The previous sofa was hard to sleep on and gave him back problems. This also will be better his sleep. FID has come through for him in the past. Also has had a great experience, feels like a second home with Friends In Deed.
